Skills for building a restorative culture

Restorative Training focuses on learning and developing the core skills of restorative principles and practices, emphasizing circle keeping and its application in many settings which include restorative justice, education and community. No Powerpoints: Our training events are highly experiential. You can look forward to learning by doing, as you are immersed in a direct and intimate experience of what it is like to be in circles. We will guide you through a process of discovering the power of circles. You will learn how to conduct circles effectively in a variety of settings. When you complete our training, you will be one in a growing network of persons trained in restorative principles;sowing seeds of cultural transformation.

As a restorative justice volunteer you will be part of a  Restorative Justice Circle, a team of 6  community members trained to facilitate a restorative conference with young adult offenders. Facilitating Restorative Justice Dialogue: transforming conflict and making things right

For: alternative dispute resolution professionals, volunteers, educators, and justice personnel

An intensive training on how to prepare for, facilitate, and follow up after restorative conferences in response to victimizing crime and incidents. The training examines the needs of victims, offenders, and the community. A range of restorative dialogue responses is considered, with discussion of how to choose one that is appropriate for the situation. The training is highly experiential, encouraging participants to practice facilitation by working with each other on their own experiences of victimization and/or witnessing harmful events. No pre-requisite.

Classroom Circles: build positive connections that support high quality learning

For: teachers and others who lead classroom circles



This training is based on our powerful Restorative Classrooms Process, which has helped to transform troubled classrooms and schools into vibrant learning communities. It is primarily for teachers and others who lead circles in classrooms. We'll cover the activities that we use in the Restorative Classrooms Process and explore the rationale and methods that support each activity. You'll leave the training with a wealth of new ideas for working with schools, as a teacher, administrator, outside consultant, or parent volunteer.
